Weekend Recap: A Wedding, Lola, Fall Decorating, & An Engagement Party

Hellllo, hello and happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! Today I'm stopping by to give you a peak into my weekend. So, I hope you'll grab your morning coffee or tea and stay a little while :)

Friday: Wedding Fun

On Friday night my family headed to my cousin Kristina's wedding. The ceremony itself took place in a local church. I love going to weddings, I mean, who doesn't though? It's so nice to see two people come together and vow to spend their lives together (I know, I'm a real sap over here). The ceremony was nice, and the newlyweds looked so happy walking out together.

Not the best quality of picture, but how cute do they look walking out of the ceremony together?! As we walked out of the ceremony we were handed bubbles...

I loved this idea! I always love the exit pictures of the bride and groom, whether it's throwing rice, confetti, etc. It's one of my favorite parts.

After we left the ceremony, we headed over to the country club where the reception was being held. Cocktail hour was in full swing when we got there, so my parents, Alie, Mike, and I grabbed drinks and some yummy appetizers. We also took some time during cocktail hour to snap some pictures outside.

The backdrop of the golf course was absolutely beautiful, and I loved the outside patio. After cocktail hour we headed into the reception for the bride and groom's entrance, the wedding toasts, dinner, dancing, some photo booth action, and of course, wedding cake!

We had a lot of fun at the wedding, and we're so happy for the new Mr. and Mrs. Borsello!

Saturday: Lola, Fall Decorating, & Lisa's Engagement Party

On Saturday we had a check-up at the eye doctor for Miss Lola. Thankfully the ulcer in her right eye has healed, and we're getting closer to booking surgery so we can get those cataracts taken care of and get her vision back. The next appointment she has is in early October, which is for some pre-surgery testing. The tests are pretty much to see a more in depth view of the health of Lo's eyes and to allow the doctor to see what she would be faced with during surgery.

She's pretty cute, isn't she? :)

After we got back from Lola's eye appointment, my mom and I started some Fall decorating. I think decorating for Fall is one of our favorite things to do each year! We love piecing together pumpkins, mums, and other decorations to make the front door look as festive as possible ;P We're not quite done yet, but I'll have to snap a picture once we are so I can show you all! For now, here's a little preview...

Pretty cute, huh? My mom put the little scarecrow holding the pumpkin, which I think is kind of adorable :) I just love fall, don't you?

So, after spending some time picking out pumpkins from the local farm and decorating, it was time to get ready for one of my good friend Lisa's engagement party. Lisa got engaged to Eric this summer and as I've mentioned before (I think) they're getting married next July. I'm one of Lisa's bridesmaids and I'm so excited to be able to be a part of her special day and all of the fun leading up to it! She's the first one out of my close friends to get married so it's really exciting but kind of weird too - are we really old enough to be getting married?! Time, please slow down :)

I unfortunately didn't get any pictures at the party, but it was a fun night filled with friends, food, and wine (of course). My other good friend Taylor and her boyfriend came home for Lisa and Eric's engagement party as well (they live in NYC) so it was really nice to get to see them and spend some time with them.

As I write this it's Sunday morning. I'm planning on whipping up a yummy recipe today that'll show up on the blog later this week. My parents and I are also going to meet up with my sister at some point today and probably doing some grocery shopping as well - a very standard, kind of lazy Sunday, which is quite alright with me!

I'll chat with you all on Wednesday! I hope that your Monday is a good one :) Thanks for reading today's blog post, it means a whole lot!

Question of the Day: What was the best part of your weekend? Let me know in the comments!

Weekend Recap

Goooood morning, friends! That weekend flew by, didn't it? And so did the month of July, can you guys believe it's already August 1st?! It's Sunday afternoon as I'm writing this, and it's been a slow morning/early afternoon so far. As I mentioned in my Friday blog post, my older sister Alie was here for the weekend. The weekend went by too fast, and I need more sister time (cough, Alie move closer, cough)! Did you keep up with me over the weekend on Instagram? I shared some pictures of what I was up to. Make sure to follow me if you aren't already! My username is joyfullyjenna. If you didn't follow along, let's backtrack to Friday to give you a little recap of what I was up to this weekend...

My sister got to our house around 4PM on Friday and as soon she got here we ran out to Trader Joe's to get some super important supplies: cheese, prosciutto, a baguette, pickles, grapes and other delicious foods to make a charcuterie board! I don't know about you guys, but I'm a BIG cheese fan and I love to pair it with a good wine, usually a chardonnay. This is where leading a balanced lifestyle comes in. As I've briefly chatted about before on the blog, I'm a firm believer in a balanced lifestyle, not restricting yourself, and that everything is okay in moderation. So, while I can't eat cheese, prosciutto, and bread and drink wine everyday (serious bummer), it's A-OK in my book to indulge in it here and there, or once per week. See, if I told myself that cheese and wine were not okay to eat/drink it would end up backfiring, for me personally at least. I would end up feeling like I was on a diet and would feel like I couldn't eat/drink some of my favorite foods or beverages, and friends, that just is not the way I want to live. Life is too short. Enjoy and indulge in that charcuterie board and wine!

While we chatted, enjoyed the charcuterie board, and drank wine, my dad fired up the grill to make the burgers that my sister requested, while Alie made some corn on the cob. After we sat down to eat dinner together, which was super nice, I brought out the chocolate cake I had made. As you can tell, this entire weekend was full of indulgences - treat yoself, people!

I have to say that I was pretttty happy with the way this chocolate cake turned out. If you LOVE chocolate like I do, this cake is definitely a keeper. I have some tweaks I want to make to the recipe, but let me guys know if you want the recipe for this delicious and rich chocolate cake and I'll post it soon! See, I told ya guys there would be the occasional, not-so-healthy recipe on the blog :)

After eating cake, all of us (my dad, mom, sister, the two pups, and I) just relaxed and watched some TV before heading to bed.

The next morning after waking up, eating breakfast, and getting ready, my mom, Alie, and I headed to Ulta for some girl time. We browsed a lot, tried out probably 50 different lipsticks (sorry to the annoyed Ulta employees, oops), and just played around with some of the products. While looking around and trying different things, I stumbled upon the Perricone MD skincare line. My close friends and family know that I have the unfortunate habit of gravitating towards the most expensive clothes, electronics, accessories, pretty much anything, and this skincare line is no exception unfortunately (it's a curse, I tell ya). I ended up trying out their Face Finishing Moisturizing Tint and really, really liked it (of course I did, it's expensive). It reminded me of a tinted moisturizer, but better. You apply it exactly as you would a regular moisturizer and it actually felt like it was working into my skin, not just sitting on top of it (which has been my experience with the tinted moisturizers I've tried). Once it hits your skin, it kind of balances out the red spots or any unevenness you have (magic!!!). I think it's the perfect product for the days that you don't feel like wearing heavier foundation, especially in the summer! The downside is that it's $75 (ouch), so I'm going to try to look out for a similar product.

After we left Ulta we ran a few more errands and then headed home. It's been so, so humid and sticky out around here so being outside wasn't the most pleasant option, so we hung inside with the two dogs. We had ordered crabs earlier and went to pick them up around 4:30. I haven't had any crabs this summer, so it was a really nice treat to have them for dinner on Saturday night!

I used to go crabbing with my pop-pop when I was younger, so eating crabs brings back some good memories! After getting all cleaned up after dinner, the four of us went out shopping for a bridal shower gift, and then hung at home for the rest of the night. This morning I made some healthy and yummy waffles for everyone (click HERE for the recipe) and then Alie headed back to her and Mike's place shortly after. Now, I'm writing up a grocery list for the week and I'll be fitting in some cardio at some point today!

I hope that you guys had a fun, safe, and relaxing weekend! Thank you so much for reading this post today, it means a lot! I hope that you'll keep coming back to the blog. Please subscribe if you haven't already so you can get the blog posts sent right your email inbox daily. Also, if there's any topics you would like me to talk about, please shoot me an email (joyfullyjennablog@gmail.com) I would love to hear from you!

I'll chat with you all tomorrow! Have an awesome and productive Monday!

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday, friends! I hope that you all had a great weekend!

Friday was pretty low key around here. I did stumble upon this beautiful field of flowers on Friday afternoon, not a bad way to start off the weekend!

Saturday was pretty gloomy, so it was nice to kick off the morning with a bowl of colorful fruit on top of some plain oatmeal (with a dash of cinnamon- yum!) to brighten up the day.

Since it was raining for the majority of the day I was mainly inside hanging with Munchkin and Lola (my two pugs) before it was time to get ready to go to the Billy Joel concert with my sister and one of my friends, Meg. I love, love, love old/older music so I was pretty excited to go to the concert, and this was my first time seeing Billy Joel live! Thankfully the rain cleared up just in time for the concert and it turned out to be a beautiful night filled with a lot of great music! Billy played Scenes From An Italian Restaurant, Just The Way You Are, Uptown Girls, and so much more. It was pretty magical if I do say so myself :P

We got back pretty late from the concert so I didn't get to sleep until close to 1AM (that's really late for this grandma over here). And now as I write this it's Sunday afternoon. It's been a catch-up-on-random-stuff kind of Sunday like washing my car and giving my two cute puggies baths. It's beautiful out so I think I'll be heading out on a bike ride soon. Does anyone else like switching their cardio up with some biking?! I think it's a nice break from the usual run or walk. Let me know in the comments your favorite way to get cardio in!

I'll be back Monday afternoon with a workout for you lovely people! Catch ya then!
