Friday Favorites #7

Hellllo, there! It's Friday. We made it! This week has felt especially long for me. With adjusting to giving Lola eye drops 2x per day and insulin shots 2x per day, it's been somewhat overwhelming. We've also had to separate Munchkin and Lola (which I may have mentioned in my last post) because Lola goes after Munchkin anytime they cross paths. So, for now we have a gate up in between the family room and kitchen. If you know pugs, you know that's hard because both dogs want to be by your side at all times. We're really hoping to get some answers when we take Lola to the vet tonight. It's possible that her levels are still really high which can cause her to act aggressively...it's also possible she's angry that she can't see and is taking it out on Munch, or both We're just not sure, but we're hoping it's temporary because this is not easy on top of everything else.

On a lighter note, let's get into what I've been loving this week...

1. Margaritas, Mexican Food, and Girl Time

salsa

Last Saturday after we found out about Lola I grabbed drinks and dinner with one of my best friends, Meg. I wasn't sure if I was going to go because of the Lola situation, but I decided it would be best if I got out of the house for a bit. We went to a Anejo, a Mexican Grill & Tequila Bar, and got some delicious margaritas, chips & pico de gallo, and each got an entree. There's just something about margaritas, chatting with your girlfriend, and snacking on chips and salsa. Definitely one of my favorites.

2. Bachelor in Paradise

I'm somewhat embarrassed that this is making it into my Friday favorites. BUT when you're stuck in the house most of the day helping out both dogs, ya need some trashy and mindless TV. I mentioned Bachelor in Paradise in another post recently, and guys, it really is just a trainwreck that you just cannot stop watching. I mean, the drama on that show is ridiculous and made me laugh a bit this week, so yes, it was one of my favorites this week. Don't judge me ;P

3. Trader Joe's Multigrain Waffles

waffle_and_smoothie

Okay, so these aren't as healthy as my homemade waffles, but sometimes you just don't have time to make things homemade. When I don't have time to make my waffles, but I still really want one to pair with some fruit or a smoothie for breakfast, I turn to good old TJ's multigrain waffles. You can pair them with a fruit/smoothie like I do, or maybe you want to put some peanut butter on there with a sliced banana! You can check out the ingredient list

4. Stopping and Enjoying the Simple Things

flower_longwood

I posted the picture of that flower on my Instagram and Facebook Page this week with a reminder to try not to get caught up in the stress of day-to-day life. Can life be stressful? Yes, of course it can be. Is stress always a bad thing? No, not always. Sometimes it helps us to meet deadlines and our goals. BUT it's important to slow down and stop for a few moments everyday. Sometimes when I'm feeling overwhelmed I'll just step outside, take a few deep breaths, and look around at nature. Sounds kind of funny, right? Don't knock it till you try it though! Looking at the trees swaying in the wind, or just a pretty flower while taking a few deep breaths can have an effect on your mood and calm you down. This has easily been a favorite for me this week, as it's been quite a stressful one!

5. My Pups & Your Support

No matter how hard things have gotten this week and how many times I may or may not have wanted to pull my hair out, I love my dogs. I also love and appreciate those of you who reached out to me via email, text, or over Facebook to let me know you're thinking of Lola and our family. It truly means a lot.

Thank you guys so much for reading this post, and my blog in general. It means a lot to me. I hope that you all have safe, relaxing, and fun weekends! I'm hoping to be able to resume to a more normal posting schedule by next week, and hopefully have some positive updates about Lola.

Xo,

Jenna

Friday Favorites #3

Happy Friday, friends! What do you all have planned for this weekend? I have one of my friend's housewarming parties on Saturday, but other than that it should be a pretty low-key weekend. It's supposed to be REALLY, really, really hot here, so I'll probably be inside for most of the weekend. It's time for Friday Favorites though, so let's jump right into what I've been loving this week!

1. Munchkin and Lola

Munchkin is on the right looking all "I'm the Queen" and Lola is the left looking silly with her tongue out!

After Munch's little health scare this week I'm definitely cherishing my little pups a little bit more! If you know me, you know I'm pretty obsessed with my pugs so Munchkin not feeling well was definitely not a fun time. I also realized I haven't really "introduced" my dogs on here yet, so why not do a shot intro today?! Munchkin is our oldest pug, she's 13, and she is quite the feisty gal (only getting feistier with her age). She barks until she gets what she wants, which is usually food (typical pug), which can be a bit annoying, but we love her anyways :) She's the cuddlier one of the two, and loves to be picked up and snuggled. She's totally the Queen of the house!

Lola is the younger of the two, she's 10, and she has quite the funny personality! Lo does everything on her terms - if you want to cuddle with her, pet her, pretty much anything, she's going to play hard to get. You'll finally give up trying to get her to come over to you, and then she'll decide to come over herself. This pup also has one of the longest tongues I've ever seen, and it's pretty funny when she has it hanging out! Lola is also a huge scaredy cat, she's scared of the vacuum, most other dogs, and pretty much anything that she isn't familiar with. Unlike Munchkin, Lola has the silliest bark and rarely uses it!

Anyone else as obsessed with their dogs as I am?! I would love to know what kind of dogs you have and their names! Share in the comments! Alright moving onto #2...

2. Glossier's Boy Brow

Excuse my chipped nails in the picture, but shoutout to Mama Ferguson for this one! My mom always finds the best makeup and this product/makeup line is no exception. Glossier is a fairly new makeup line and I highly suggest you go check them out (click HERE to head to their website). Their Boy Brow product is awesome! It's honestly a fool-proof way to thicken and define your brows without giving them that scary, unnatural look AND your brows won't feel gross and stiff afterwards (click HERE for the full description of Boy Brow)

3. Gilmore Girls

Hi, my name is Jenna, and I'm addicted to Gilmore Girls. Okay, so I know that I'm SUPER late to the party on Gilmore Girls, but better late than never, right?! My mom and I have already gotten through Season 1 and half of Season 2 on Netflix. This show is ADDICTING and I just love Lorelai and Rory! Anyone else out there Gilmore Girls fans?!

4. Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Pretzel Slims

Trader Joes, ya did it again! These dark chocolate covered pretzel slims are the perfect sweet treat for after dinner (or whenever)! If you're looking for a salty, sweet, and crunchy snack to satisfy your craving then definitely pick up a bag of these (or 4 like we did, oops) the next time you find yourself at Trader Joes.

5. Starting Joyfully Jenna

Last but not least, a favorite of mine this week is definitely being able to create this blog and share with all of you! I love being able to share what I'm passionate about with other people and I'm so happy I finally decided to start this blog. I hope you guys have enjoyed the content so far, and I'm looking forward to providing more and more! If there's any topic you'd like me to talk about, please reach out in the comments or via email at joyfullyjennablog@gmail.com

Also don't forget to subscribe so you can keep up with the posts! I also post to Instagram frequently, so that's another way to keep up with me (click HERE to head to my Instagram page). Not on Instagram? I also have a Facebook page that you can like to keep up with the posts and other content (click HERE to head to my Facebook page).

That does it for the third edition of Friday Favorites! Have a great weekend, guys, and I'll "see ya" on Monday!
