Getting Back on Track

As a recent graduate, I'm trying to get back on track with my eating habits, as well as my exercise routine. I was absolutely swamped for the past two years, and although I taught fitness classes 2-4 days per week, sometimes my fitness got pushed to the back-burner. So three weeks ago (shortly after graduation) I decided it was time to start getting back into a routine with my workouts. Since I'm still job hunting I didn't want to spend the money to join the gym, so I pulled out my trusty Kayla Itsines workout guide


If you're short on money or time, this workout is for you! The Kayla workout guide requires you to workout 6 days per week, but you're NOT doing the same thing each day. Three days per week are resistance training which can include (1) legs and cardio, (2) arms and abs, and (3) full body. Each of these workouts is 28 minutes long, with 4 rounds of 7 minutes each. On the other three days you'll be walking (or cycling or using the elliptical) for 35-45 minutes at a pace of about 3.5 mph. Eventually, the walking will turn into HIIT (learn about HIIT here) as you progress further in the guide. You can truly do this workout guide without much equipment, you'll just need to find something in your house to use for step ups, but you really are able to improvise for most of the exercises that require equipment. If you feel more comfortable using standard equipment, you can always purchase a step, some free weights, a jump rope, and a medicine ball online to get yourself started. 

I'm not going to lie to you guys, these workouts are no joke. I'm on Week 2 right now and will be doing the arms and abs workout later today. I know the workout is going to be hard, but I also know it's going to be worth it. Her workout guide is so effective, and if you go to her Instagram account you can see many of the amazing transformations people have had from using her guide.
