Hello, hello, friends! I hope your day is off to a great start. Anyone else obsessed with watching the the Gymnastics Olympic Trials this weekend? Gymnastics is definitely my favorite sport to watch during the Olympics, and the strength those girls has never ceases to amaze me! If I hadn't played volleyball growing up I would have loved to try gymnastics, I just think it looks like such an amazing sport.
Speaking of strength and all the working out those girls have to do, I'm onto Week 3 of Kayla Itsine's BBG program this week (read about it here)! When I'm not doing her program though, HIIT workouts are my go-to.
HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training, usually with 30/10 intervals. You give your absolute all, 100% effort, for 30 seconds, and then you get a 10 second break. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns fat in less time (aw, yeah!). But wait, it gets even better! High Intensity Interval Training boosts your metabolism for up to 48 hours after your workout. No, that is NOT a typo, which means you'll be burning calories even after you've left the gym! HIIT workouts are also quick and convenient. Don't have a gym membership or short on time? No problem, HIIT workouts focus on using body weight and also can be completed in under 30 minutes!
Are you ready to give a HIIT workout a shot? Here's one for you to start with:
Try out the workout and let me know what you think in the comments! I'll be back tomorrow morning to talk about how to make that summer BBQ a bit healthier. See ya then!
